Stitch Fix

Have you tried Stitch Fix ? I know it's been featured all over the blog world and Pinterest, I actually read about it in an issue of Southern Living a few months back. I was skeptical at first, but if I'm being totally honest most of the clothes I own were bought in high school, some in college. Being in the working world and a "real grown up" now, I thought, why not give it a try and let someone else (presumably a grown up) pick out a few age appropriate pieces for my wardrobe? So I did. Here's what I think so far: It can be a little pricey. You have some control in this area, though, as you can set your own preferences in regards to the price you would be willing to pay for an item of clothing in each category (i.e. dress, tops, bottoms, accessories, etc.). Another person, with tastes that no doubt differ from your own, is picking out the clothing for you to try. This means you may not love every piece included in your shipment. It also means that...

The Beach

I love the beach. I dislike bikinis, I don't tan easily, and, quite frankly, there's something about the combination of sunscreen and sweat that sets my sensitive skin aflame. I still love the beach. I've spent most of my life at the beach, and while I don't appreciate the things that others may find most exciting or enjoyable about it, I've learned that it can be as dynamic a place as the people who visit. Being highly sensitive, when life comes at me fast and I'm feeling overwhelmed, there is very little more comforting or calming than fresh air and ocean sounds. Particularly during times of transition, or when life does not go according to plan, I find a moment of peace in the sunshine on the sandy shore. A place where I can go to breathe and escape, with not a person, sound, or obstacle in sight. In the spirit of full...

Coming Home

Image
I think they are correct when they say you can never really return to your childhood home. People and places are always changing. Sometimes it seems the only thing constant in life is change. We packed up all of our belongings and bid our friends in Atlanta adieu the first of February. It seems almost a lifetime ago, now. We've been wandering around Charleston in a daze for some time, trying to find our footing. It's been a harder transition than I'd imagined. Going to Atlanta with no friends or family or expectations was overwhelming, but eventually we got it. Here, so much has changed that it's hard not to feel like a stranger sometimes in a place I've always thought of as "home." We have enjoyed catching up with old friends and exploring this new place we used to know so well. It's funny to see the new group of schoolchildren and teens hanging out at the local movie theater or Moe's and remember how that used to be us. It is tu...
