Coming Home

I think they are correct when they say you can never really return to your childhood home. People and places are always changing. Sometimes it seems the only thing constant in life is change.

We packed up all of our belongings and bid our friends in Atlanta adieu the first of February. It seems almost a lifetime ago, now. We've been wandering around Charleston in a daze for some time, trying to find our footing. It's been a harder transition than I'd imagined. Going to Atlanta with no friends or family or expectations was overwhelming, but eventually we got it. Here, so much has changed that it's hard not to feel like a stranger sometimes in a place I've always thought of as "home."

We have enjoyed catching up with old friends and exploring this new place we used to know so well. It's funny to see the new group of schoolchildren and teens hanging out at the local movie theater or Moe's and remember how that used to be us. It is turning out to be more of an adventure than I thought possible. I think I'm enjoying it. I just keep recalling that Jesus Culture song, "Come Away":

I have a plan for you/ It's gonna be wild, it's gonna be great, it's gonna be full of me/ Open up your hearts and let me in.

This is my goal every day.  It has been a challenge some days, but I'm trying my best.

My favorite things so far:

1. Sunshine. My goodness, the beautiful sunshine.

2. East Bay Deli. My new favorite restaurant. Seriously, it's delicious.
3. Family. It has been amazing to have family around again. Game changing.

Stay tuned as we keep on keeping on.
