Family visit

This past weekend my parents, Michael's mom, my brother, and one of our best friends came to visit. Whew. It was a fun-filled weekend that left everyone exhausted and satisfied, I'm sure.

I started getting antsy Friday at lunch at the realization that all of these people would be coming to visit our new life for the first time ever. It's always stressful (eustress) for me to have elements from different periods of my life mix. I'm never sure how friends and family will all get along or how I'll balance time with all of them. I'm not sure what to do with them here, since I'm used to doing things with them elsewhere. But overall I think everyone would deem the weekend a great success.

Friday night flew by, as I knew it would, in a blur of frenzied conversation and hugs and anecdotes. Saturday was much the same, but we got to switch up locations. At one point it was funny to see everyone just stop and breathe (in their own ways).

Hi Zoe.

Failed attempt #1. Nice, Michael.

There we go.

My brother, folks.

Michael and I spotted this gorgeous Magnolia as we were leaving. That's Michael's hand "as a reference point."

We did a lot more than this, I promise. Obviously I didn't really think to capture the rest, probably because there were cameras going all weekend and it just didn't occur to me that mine wasn't one of them. Oh well, you get the picture.

It was so nice to actually have house guests! Our guest bath was used for the first time and all of my travel size products and millions of pillows were shown some appreciation. I've been preparing to play host for a while now and was so excited I finally got the opportunity with my friend and my brother. It was nothing like old home days, but these days and it's fun to catch up as we all head in different directions far and near.
